The Philadelphia 76ers went through a roster upheaval over the summer along the lines of adding two new starters to their lineup around All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
The new additions include shooting guard Josh Richardson who will replace JJ Redick in the starting lineup while Tobias Harris will move over to the small forward spot and Al Horford will be the power forward. The moves are expected to help the Sixers seriously contend for an NBA championship and help them on the defensive end.
Embiid is happy with what he sees from the new guys after a week of training camp and a preseason game.
“They’re going to fit right in,” Embiid explained. “You could see last night (Tuesday) Josh is going to help us a lot defensively and offensively and the same thing for Al so I’m excited to have him.”
Richardson is expected to be a big two-way player for the Sixers in the upcoming season while Horford is expected to come in and form one of the better defensive duos in the league. Embiid is excited to have Horford next to him and play against people not wearing Sixers jerseys.
“It was good to finally play against anybody that’s not my teammate,” he added. “We did what we had to do. We got the win, but we’ve got a long way to go.”
The Sixers will face off with the Charlotte Hornets on Friday to continue the preseason action.
